How it works for generators
How to get hazardous waste disposal quotes that compete.
On MyWasteBid, you describe your waste once, post a pickup request, and verified local and regional disposal vendors send competing bids. You compare them side by side, award one, and keep every record from pickup to final invoice. It is free for generators.
Nine steps from first profile to final invoice
Before your first request: set up once, then reuse it.
- STEP 1
Add your site
Enter the address where the waste is picked up. Vendors see only the city, state, and ZIP code until you award a job.
- STEP 2
Build a waste profile
A guided form for each waste stream: the process that makes it, what it looks like, what is in it, its properties, and any codes you propose. Save it once and reuse it on every request.
- STEP 3
Choose your industry
Vendors see your industry instead of your company name before award. It helps them price accurately.
Each request
- 01
Post a request
Pick the profiles, containers, and quantities, your pickup window, and a bid deadline. You can list the disposal facilities you approve or require.
- 02
Answer questions
Matched vendors can ask questions. Your answers go to every vendor on the request, so everyone bids on the same facts.
- 03
Compare and award
See each bid as it arrives, side by side, with ratings, paid-as-quoted records, and flags for any facility not on your list. Award one, or none.
After you award
- STEP 1
Pickup
The vendor proposes a pickup date, you confirm it, and the vendor records the pickup and the manifest number. Messages stay with the job.
- STEP 2
Records
The vendor uploads the custody records: manifests, bills of lading, weight tickets, and certificates of disposal or recycling.
- STEP 3
Confirm the amount
The vendor submits the final invoice and you confirm it. The amounts are checked against the quote, and any price change needs a change order you approved first.
How much does hazardous waste disposal cost?
Hazardous waste disposal cost varies by waste type, volume, container, and distance to a permitted facility. There is no honest single price per drum, and any site that quotes one without seeing your waste is guessing. The fastest way to the real number is to have several qualified vendors bid on the same request, which is what MyWasteBid does.
What moves the price, in short:
- Waste type. Solvents that can be fuel-blended, corrosives, reactives, and medical waste all go to different kinds of facilities.
- Volume and packaging. Drums, totes, boxes, and bulk loads price differently, and so do partly full containers.
- Distance. How far the truck travels to you and then to the receiving facility.
- Paperwork and handling. Lab packs, sampling, and special handling add cost.
What waste can I post?
Hazardous waste, universal waste (lamps, batteries, pesticides, and mercury devices), used oil and oil filters, regulated medical waste and sharps, pharmaceuticals, special waste such as asbestos, and non-hazardous industrial waste. Vendors only see requests for waste their permits cover.
Who is responsible for my waste?
You are. Under federal and state rules, the generator stays responsible for its waste from the moment it is made to its final disposal, and that does not change on MyWasteBid. The profile builder helps you organize what you know, and any codes you enter are labeled “Proposed by generator, not verified” until a vendor or lab confirms them. We do not classify waste or sign manifests.
More questions
- What does it cost to use MyWasteBid?
- Nothing for generators, ever. Vendors are also free during the beta.
- Do I pay the vendor through the site?
- No. You pay the vendor directly. We record the agreed amounts so both sides can see that the final amount matches the quote.
- What if the final amount is higher than the quote?
- If it is over the quote by more than the allowed difference, or you and the vendor disagree, a dispute opens. We keep the record, set deadlines, and help both sides reach an outcome. We are not a party to your agreement with the vendor.
